Cables and wire
Before we take a short break for Easter, there is some work to be done with wiring the electronics and (hopefully) getting a temperature sensor to work with the RPi. Bruce Larson will be helping me with item 1, and Steve Smith and I spent about 3 hours on Saturday working on item 2. We’re to the point where we can get the temperature sensor to send a number to a file, which can be read by the music software–that’s good progress. The trick is to find a way to reliably get that information updated, and so far, that’s proving elusive. This is the same issue I had earlier with starting a program on reboot. We’ll give it until Wednesday, and if we’re not able to figure it out, we’ll consider dropping that part of the project (which would be unfortunate, as it was one of the main features of the piece, that is, the idea that the electronics are somehow reacting to the environment).
Anyone out there have old RCA cable they don’t need? I’m collecting as much as I can to avoid purchasing new cable. We’ll need about 30 feet for each tripod, divided into various lengths…
